God shines within our hearts. Jesus walks by our side. The Holy Spirit gives us strength.

A Warm Welcome

Mrs Patricia Chapman, Headteacher

St Mary’s is a friendly community that aims to give every child the best possible start to their school lives.

We aim to create an environment where children feel safe, happy, valued and where every child can learn effectively.

St Mary’s education strives to go beyond academic excellence. It is a collaborative process between and among teachers and pupils which fosters personal, cooperative study, discovery and creativity, reflection to promote life long learning and action in service to others. Its ultimate goal is to develop people of competence, conscience and compassion.

Ofsted said during their last visit in 2023: “Pupils enjoy attending this small, calm and productive school. They say that they feel safe and happy because everyone looks after each other.”

Our Mission Statement

St Mary’s Catholic Voluntary Academy lives out its Christ-centred mission by placing Gospel values at the heart of school life. Pupils are encouraged to grow spiritually, morally, and academically, with a strong emphasis on compassion, collaboration, and living out the teachings of Jesus in every day actions.

We promote a rich and inspiring curriculum that encourages a deep sense of awe and wonder, helping children to recognise the presence of God in all aspects of learning and creation. Rooted in Catholic social teaching, the school prioritises reconciliation, mutual respect, and the dignity of each individual. We also ensure that our mission is not merely a statement but a lived experience, shaping pupils into responsible, faith-filled citizens who contribute positively to the school, parish, and wider community.
